All things happen for a good cause!

All things happen for a cause. Yes that’s right. It may be good or bad. But we hope it does for a good. Sounds too philosophical to begin a blog! I must say the events that have taken place in the last few weeks, if not even the last few months, have compelled me to believe that in someway or the other things fall into place. I am writing sitting in my new apartment with absolutely nothing to do, which gives me an opportunity to scribble. Its Detroit and its winter..what more can u do. I just moved here from Albuquerque, NM. Actually drove with my brother for 1700 frickin miles, crossed 8 states, and took us about 3 full days. Stopped on the way at my friends place in Louisville,KY. What’s amazing is if you are new to US you will see the varied landscapes that hit you. From dusty desert lands of New Mexico, the grassy Oklahoma, the Ozark forests of Missouri, the plains of Indiana & Illinois, the thick forests of northern Kentucky, to the wintry cold fronts of northwest Ohio and lower Michigan.

So finally I am here in Detroit. My next job (hopefully will last for a while) is with an automotive company. My friend actually works there, so it should be helpful. In my previous two jobs I worked with small companies and got physically and mentally drained. It was pressure to the fullest. I know every job demands a lot, but the previous job especially was the most blasted ever. Never work for a manufacturing company which is not structured! My new company has filed for my H1 visa and hopefully everything will be ok.

Last weekend I got into Orkut, this new user community. I like it. Simply because it helps you get in touch with your old pals and crushes! I got to know some of my Undergrad friends of whom I haven’t heard anything in a while. So that’s nice. I even got to know where my first crush is!! I know some of my friends will be eager to know who she was. She is happily married and settled somewhere in the US. But I cudn’t believe she spent 4 years in Tucson. Tucson I tell you is the worst place I have ever been (Tucsonites you got to bear with me!). The last time I went to Tuscon was in the middle of the day with the summer at its peak. It was a scorching 118F. There is absolutely nothing there other than huge sand mountains, the ones you would see in a classic western movie…. an outlaw all parched and ready to die!! I was with my previous employer and we were performing a road test on a pick-up vehicle driving down from Phoenix. As it happens the engine of the truck got heated up because of an exhaust leakage and we had to shut out the AC and turn on the heater to cool the engine. Can you believe it, turning on a heater in the middle of the day in scorching Arizona??? We had to turn it on and off periodically for 2 hrs. I fell sick after that and couldn’t go to work for 3 days. That’s it for Tuscon. I decided I wud never ever go there.

Yesterday I bought a new TV. GFM is name of the company. It looked good, but I don’t think anyone might have ever heard of this company. Anyways the digital remote is not compatible with the TV. So guys never buy a GFM TV.

My friend said yesterday that getting a better job might mean something better in life. Whenever someone talks of life I think of marriage. I don’t know why but it looks like marriage is the be all and end all of life (at least for we desis). Somebody once said “All things happen for a good cause.”..whatever!

This is my first ever blog..so you have to bear with it.
